Mediafire Launches App For Android, Offers 50 GB Of Free Storage [Updates]

Online space for backup, storage, and collaboration is no longer available at a premium. Blame it on competitive offerings. Mediafire is a known name in the online storage and backup services world. To complement their service, Mediafire has announced an Android app that will allow you to quickly access and share files on the go. The new Android app follows in the wake of the iOS app for iPhone and iPad devices, thus helping you to keep your files and documents always accessible via the cloud across devices.

Mediafire offers 50GB of free storage and the new Android app could be the portal for filling up all those free gigabytes. A run through their feature list on Google Play reveals that you can take and upload pictures and videos directly in the Mediafire app; upload entire Android image galleries; and also share files on the go via email, SMS, through other Android apps, and with copy and paste links.

The press release does not mention any syncing feature, so that’s probably on the list for the future.

As Derek Labian, president and CEO of MediaFire said in the press release,

“2013 will mark a major year for online storage providers, and we plan to bring MediaFire to the forefront of this movement with the launch of several stellar products; stay tuned.”
