Measuring the Child

2. Obtain 4-6 yards/3.6-5.4 meters of tulle for a baby or toddler size tutu. If cutting from the bolt, cut into 6"/25cm strips. Purchase 6"/25cm by 25 yard/23 meter rolls to make it easier for you.    • Let's say you want the tutu to be 14"/35.5cm long. Double that length to 28"/71cm and cut each strip to 28"/71cm long. You determine the length.
   
   
   • If using tulle from the bolt, the best way to cut strips is to leave the tulle folded as it came from the store, and cut it down to 6"/25cm strips so that you're cutting though multiple layers. This saves you time. Or purchase 6"/25cm by 25 yard/23 meter spools to bypass cutting the tulle into strips. You will need between 1-3 rolls. The average toddler tutu will use between 1.5 to 2.5 rolls.
