All Samsung Windows PCs to be unified under the ATIV brand

If you look at Samsung's current PC lineup you will notice that the company is using quite a few brand names for its devices. There are the Series X type of devices that seem to come in all shapes and flavors, and the new ATIV brand devices which seem to have been limited to Windows 8 up until now mostly.

The company announced on Thursday that it will unify its PC line under the ATIV brand. What this means is that all upcoming Samsung Windows PC devices will use the ATIV brand. Existing product categories will be sorted into three product categories as outlined below:

  • ATIV Smart PC and ATIV Smart PC Pro make up the Tab category and will be renamed to ATIV Tab 5 and ATIV Tab 7.

  • The All-In-On PC Series makes up the One category. Series 3, 5 and 7 All-In-One PCs will be renamed to ATIV One 3,5 and 7 respectively.

  • The Book category is the largest, with all remaining Series 9, 7, 5 and 3 devices being added to it. The high-end Series 9 ultrabooks will be renamed to ATIV Book 9 for example.

Samsung furthermore announced that it will make two new Book devices available in the near future. The Samsung ATIV Book 5 and the Samsung ATIV Book 6 will both ship in May 2013.
